I am an assistant professor (with tenure track) at the University of Berne where I work on my SNSF Starting Grant on promotion inequality and other topics related to social inequality. My previous work positions include a senior researcher position at University of Zurich (financed with an SNSF Ambizione grant), an interim professor position (at the Cluster of Excellence at the University of Konstanz), a postdoc position at LMU Munich (with Katrin Auspurg, financed with a SNSF Postdoc.Mobility grant), and a senior researcher position at University of Lausanne (with Daniel Oesch). I received my PhD in Sociology from the University of Bern (supervisors: Ben Jann and Walter Müller) after studying Sociology, Science of Religion and Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Bern.
Besides my academic work, I am a member of the Education, Professionals and Diversity Committee of digitalswitzerland and advise Allianz Chance+ on its programmes promoting educational opportunities.
